Hope you like them!

Contents:

Lesson Plan: Using authentic Material
Lesson Plan: Using images in the class
The use of cellphones in the class
The use of camera in the class
The use of images in the class
Pixar in a box: Film Grammar
Comic Time
Storyboard: Where all begins
ETP: Leaning Community

Objectives:

The objective of this blog is to publish the different activities or task that I develop in my course an especially reinforce or make a review about the use of technology inside the classroom as future teachers of English.

Conclusion

As a conclusion, I can say that in this subject I learned a lot about the using technology for teaching English as a foreign language, and as I mention in a post below, before this course I really had no idea how to manage some technology divices or web sources, but now, I feel more confortabl and I have confidence in what I have learnet and how to use it in a productive and didactive way with my students when I become a teacher.

Hope you like my blog! xoxo

Lesson Plan: using images in the class

Lesson Plan: Unit 3 What's the weather like today?
Class: 1st grade
N° of students: 25

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to identify 5 different types of weather by showing the corresponding image when the teacher name each of the five weather types.
  • Students will be able to create a poster related to their favorite weather by drawing and painting it in a blank worksheet.

Development

After the teacher has recalled the vocabulary words already seen by the students in previous class, the teacher sticks on the whiteboard 5 flashcards related to weather, ( SUNNY, CLOUDY, WINDY, SNOWY, RAINY) then, he asks to the students to name each of them one by one.

After this practice, the teacher will deliver 5 medium size flashcards to each students in order for them to identify the five types of weather by showing them the corresponding image when the teacher name each of them. E.g. When the students hear cloudy, they will have to look in their flashcards the one with the cloudy picture and will show it to the teacher. all the student at the same time.

Afterwards, the teacher will give to each student a blank worksheet in which thee students by using the flashcards as a guide, they will have to create a poster that represent their favorite weather.

The flashcards to be used are the following:

The use of cellphones in the classroom: Like or Dislike?

Hi everyone! So in one of my classes we talked about the use of cellphones in the classrooms, (for this, I will attach a very interesting website with a report about this subject at the end of this post).

Personally, I think that as teachers, we must have the use of cellphones controlled inside our classrooms because what would prefer? Your students using their cellphones behind your back or maybe in front of you whil you are talking? Or perhaps to use the cellphone in various activity and take advantage of this technologycal devise? I would defenitively go with option numer two, it is in our mind how to use in a didactic way things that the students find interesting or attractive right?

Like or dislike the use of cellphones?

Comic Time!

In one class, the teacher showed us different websites to create comics! Now, personally, I thought that this activity was so interesting, fun and also very useful to promote our creativity that sometimes we think that we lack of it.

As future teachers, I think that this is a very important and interactive source to use with our students, so if you are teachers or teachers to be, do not be afraid to use this in your classes, I definitively will do it.

Here do you have the websites to create you own comic. Hope you like it!

Storyboard: Where all begins

Hi everyone! In one class, in relation with film grammar, we learned about Storyboards, is a set of illustrations shown in sequence with the aim of serving as a guide to understand a story, I think that trully it is the most important part of creating a story because it is your guide in order to obtain a nice development of your story!

Here is a picture of one! Hope you enjoy it!

Pixar in a box: Film Grammar

Hi everyone! So today post is about, as the title says, Pixar in a box, Film Grammar the art of storytelling, amazing ah?

So in one of my classes, the teacher showed us several videos about film grammar, what is Film Grammar you might ask, well, Film Grammar is a kind of metaphor for the things used to tell a story visually, this means that is how visual ideas are strung together in order to tell stories. Basically, is what the people who work behind camera does in the process of making a movie and before making a movie.

In the class we checked a website from Khanacaemy website in with which we learned about the different types of shots that are for recording, miner and major beats and last but not least because it is the most important, storyboarding.

Here are some examples:

Major v/s minor beats

Major beats are the ones that are use to iniciate a scenene, and there are divided or broke ino a sequence of scenes that will be the minor beats.

e.g.   Major Beat: Guy discovers he's a superhero
Minor Beat: Guy gets his own "super" name

A shot is a visual representation of a character's action in time. For this, here I will post some videos that contains different shots. Hope you enjoy it!

  • This video goes from medium shot to close up shot and then to medium shot again!

  • This video contains a dynamic shot

The use of images in the classroom

Hi everyone! In this post, I will give my opinion about the use of images in the classrooms.

I think that the use of image in the classroom is an excellent strategy to call our student's attention, especially with young and very young learners because by watching the picture it is easy for them to accomplish a better understanding of what the teacher is teaching them and also because is more interactive and didact than just write the words on the whiteboard; by using pictures we will be able to enhance our student's attention and interest in our classes.
